DAILY PET COMPASS — PUBLISHED STUDY DESIGN RECOUNT This reader package adapts selected design facts from: Palya Z, Racz K, Nagymate G, Kiss RM (2022), Development of a detailed canine gait analysis method for evaluating harnesses: A pilot study. PLOS ONE 17(3):e0264299. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0264299 Original article: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0264299 Table 1 and Methods. The original article is CC BY; credit the authors and source. study-input.json is a manual transcription of dog-harness combinations and the measurement conditions. It contains published study IDs, not identities or observations from a Daily Pet Compass household. Run `python recount.py` in this directory and compare the printed JSON with recount-result.json. Python uses its standard library, no network access and no file writes. There are no third-party dependencies to install. Expected design arithmetic: 4 dogs; 12 dog-harness combinations; 4 baseline trials plus 24 harness-condition trials gives 28 trials. These are different units. The calculation does not make repeated trials independent animals. The script checks counting consistency. It cannot authenticate the transcription, certify the study, detect a wholly rewritten but consistent dataset or estimate clinical safety. Verify the source table independently. No raw motion-capture data was downloaded or reanalysed and no experiment was repeated. The article also discusses Weissenbacher et al. (2022) and Johnson and Wynne (2024). This package contains no computation over those studies.
